Common questions

Does it really work without the internet?
Yes. GanttOWN is a native desktop Gantt chart app that works completely offline once installed. Your project files are saved locally. No cloud sync, no account required after activation.
Does GanttOWN ever need an online connection?
Only in two situations: when downloading updates, and when activating or deactivating a license. Everything else (opening, editing, and saving your projects) works entirely offline. So you'll want to be connected the first time you set up a license or move it to another machine, but your day-to-day work never needs the internet.
What does "one-time purchase" mean exactly?
You pay once and own the software. There are no monthly fees or renewal charges. Solo includes lifetime bug and security fixes. Team and Business also receive all future feature updates as they're released, at no additional cost.
Can my team collaborate on the same file?
Yes. Save your .gantt file to a shared network drive, SharePoint, or OneDrive. Team members open it directly. No server setup required. File locking prevents simultaneous edits.
What's the difference between the tiers?
The tiers differ in both team size and collaboration features. Solo supports up to 5 members and is ideal for individual PMs. Team (up to 20) and Business (up to 150) unlock the full collaboration suite: PM and member roles with separate passwords, member inboxes, date change request and approval workflows, PM-to-member messaging, project log, and a full audit trail.
Mac or Windows?
Mac is available now as one universal app that runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Windows is in active development. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the day it ships. Your license key will work on either platform, so buying today covers you for both.
Can I import my existing plans?
Yes. GanttOWN imports Excel (.xlsx and .xls), CSV and Microsoft Project XML files, bringing across phases, owners, progress, dependencies and milestones. You can export to Excel, PDF or a sharp PNG image, or print straight from the app.
Does it support phases and dependencies?
Yes. Group tasks into phases that show their combined progress and collapse with one click. Link tasks with dependencies (with optional lag in working days) so late work pushes everything after it, and the critical path is highlighted automatically. Schedules can skip weekends and holidays.
Is there a trial, or can I get a refund?
